Your CSV never leaves this tab
Your CSV is pasted or opened, parsed, and converted to JSON locally in your browser.
Processed locally
Your CSV file is read and converted right here in this browser tab.
No account required
No account, email address, or payment details required.
Visible sheets stay separate
Exports, customer lists, logs, and pasted spreadsheet text stay on your device until you copy or download the JSON.
How to Convert CSV to JSON
Use this page when your source is CSV text or a CSV file. If you start from an XLSX or XLS workbook instead, use the Excel to JSON Converter.
Paste or upload CSV data
Paste CSV text or choose a .csv, .tsv, or .txt file from your device. The file is read locally in your browser.
Choose JSON output options
Confirm the delimiter, decide whether the first row is headers, and pick Array of Objects, Array of Arrays, or JSON Lines.
Copy or download JSON
Review the preview, then copy the full result or download a .json file—or .jsonl for JSON Lines.
CSV to JSON Example
By default, each row becomes an object and values stay as text, keeping leading zeros and empty fields intact. The converter also handles commas inside quotes, Chinese characters, and accented letters.

] CSV to JSON Array, Objects, and JSON Lines
One page covers the common JSON shapes. Pick the structure your next tool expects instead of reshaping the file by hand.
Array of Objects
Each row becomes one object, with column headers as field names. Choose this when you want each value identified by its column name.
Array of Arrays
Keeps each row as a list of values in the original column order. Useful for CSV files without headers.
JSON Lines / NDJSON
Each line is a separate JSON object. Download as .jsonl for tools that support JSON Lines and import one record per line.
Array of Arrays
[
["id", "Name", "City"],
["00127", "Alice", "New York, NY"],
["00128", "Bob", "London"]
] JSON Lines
{"id":"00127","Name":"Alice","City":"New York, NY"}
{"id":"00128","Name":"Bob","City":"London"} Delimiters, Headers, and Safe Values
Real CSV exports are rarely perfect. These options cover the cases that usually break a quick convert.
Auto and manual delimiters
Auto detect comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe. Switch manually or set a custom delimiter when an export uses an unusual separator.
Quoted fields and line breaks
Fields wrapped in quotes can contain commas, line breaks, and escaped double quotes. Unclosed quotes are reported instead of silently producing broken JSON.
Headers with or without names
Keep First row as headers for named objects. Turn it off for headerless tables. Duplicate or empty headers are renamed so JSON keys stay unique.
Keep IDs and leading zeros
Values stay as text by default to preserve leading zeros and long IDs. Enable Detect numbers and true/false values when you need numbers and booleans instead of text.
Why Use This CSV to JSON Converter?
Built for CSV text and files
Paste exports, upload .csv / .tsv / .txt, and control delimiter and encoding without opening Excel first.
JSON structure you can choose
Choose objects with named fields, arrays of row values, or one object per line. Use Format with indentation to make JSON easier to read.
Safe defaults for real data
IDs and empty values stay as text by default. Repeated or blank column names get unique names, and unclosed quotes are reported so you can fix them.
Private and free
Conversion stays in your browser. No account, no server upload, and no third-party analytics on your CSV contents.
CSV to JSON FAQs
How do I convert a CSV file to JSON?
Paste CSV text or upload a .csv, .tsv, or .txt file. Confirm the delimiter and whether the first row contains headers, pick Array of Objects, Array of Arrays, or JSON Lines, then click Convert CSV to JSON. Copy the result or download a .json or .jsonl file.
Can I convert CSV to JSON online for free?
Yes. This free online CSV to JSON converter needs no account and no installation. Conversion runs in your browser, so you can convert CSV files to JSON without uploading them to a server.
How do I convert CSV to a JSON array?
Choose Array of Objects to use column headers as field names. Choose Array of Arrays to keep each row as a list of values in column order.
Can I convert CSV to JSON without headers?
Yes. Turn off First row as headers. Every row is treated as data, and the converter defaults to Array of Arrays so column order stays explicit. JSON Lines still needs headers because each line is a named object.
Does the CSV to JSON converter preserve leading zeros?
Yes. Values stay as text by default, preserving IDs like 00127, postal codes, and long numeric IDs. Enable Detect numbers and true/false values only if you want those values converted from text. Leading zeros may be lost.
Is my CSV file uploaded to a server?
No. Parsing and conversion stay in this browser tab. File contents, file names, and cell values are not sent to xlsxtocsv.net or analytics services. Only you can copy or download the JSON output.
