CSV Output
Point features fill longitude and latitude (GeoJSON order: longitude first). Line, polygon, and multi-part shapes leave those columns empty and keep full geometry in WKT when enabled. Nested property objects become columns such as address.city; arrays stay as JSON text.

How to Convert GeoJSON to CSV
Need attributes plus coordinates or WKT? Use this page. For plain nested JSON with no geography, use JSON to CSV.
Paste or Upload GeoJSON
Paste text or choose a .geojson / .json file. FeatureCollection, a single Feature, and bare Geometry all work.
Choose Coordinate and Geometry Options
Choose whether to expand nested properties into separate columns and include Point coordinates, geometry type, or WKT. Set delimiter and encoding for Excel or GIS import.
Preview and Download CSV
Check the table or CSV text, then copy or download a .csv for Excel, QGIS, or database import.
GeoJSON to CSV Example
One Feature → one row. GeoJSON positions are [longitude, latitude], so the sample CSV lists longitude before latitude.
GeoJSON FeatureCollection

} CSV output
name,category,geometry_type,longitude,latitude,wkt
Location A,Shop,Point,121.5,25,POINT (121.5 25)
Location B,Office,Point,120.9,24.2,POINT (120.9 24.2) Export Latitude and Longitude from GeoJSON
With Include coordinates on, only Point features fill longitude and latitude. coordinates[0] is longitude (X); coordinates[1] is latitude (Y). Optional altitude in the GeoJSON is not written to these two columns. Numbers keep their original precision—no forced rounding.
Longitude and latitude are left blank for lines, polygons, and other non-Point geometries. The converter does not calculate center points. Use WKT (or the optional geometry JSON column) to preserve the full shape. Turn coordinates off if you already store lon/lat in properties and do not want duplicate columns.
Convert GeoJSON Properties to CSV Columns
Nested objects become dot-path columns when Flatten nested properties is on. Arrays stay as JSON text so each feature remains one row.
Feature properties
{
"name": "Park A",
"address": {
"city": "Boston",
"zip": "02108"
},
"tags": ["park", "public"]
} CSV columns
name,address.city,address.zip,tags
Park A,Boston,02108,"[""park"",""public""]" Each property gets a column. Missing values are left blank. If a property is already named longitude or id, it keeps that name. Columns added by the converter are renamed when needed, such as longitude_2. Feature-level id is exported when present; geometry: null or properties: null still produces a row.
Convert GeoJSON Geometry to WKT
Enable Include WKT geometry to save lines and polygons in a CSV column that GIS tools can read. Enable Include geometry JSON if you need the original GeoJSON geometry as text.
Polygon feature
{
"type": "Feature",
"properties": { "name": "Block" },
"geometry": {
"type": "Polygon",
"coordinates": [
[
[0, 0],
[1, 0],
[1, 1],
[0, 1],
[0, 0]
]
]
}
} CSV with WKT
name,geometry_type,longitude,latitude,wkt
Block,Polygon,,,POLYGON ((0 0, 1 0, 1 1, 0 1, 0 0)) | Geometry type | longitude / latitude | WKT (when enabled) |
|---|---|---|
Point | Filled | POINT (lon lat) |
MultiPoint | Empty | MULTIPOINT ((…), (…)) |
LineString | Empty | LINESTRING (…) |
MultiLineString | Empty | MULTILINESTRING ((…), (…)) |
Polygon | Empty | POLYGON ((…)) |
MultiPolygon | Empty | MULTIPOLYGON (((…))) |
GeometryCollection | Empty | GEOMETRYCOLLECTION (…) |
Multi-part types and GeometryCollection follow the same rule: one feature row, empty lon/lat, full WKT. 3D positions use a Z designator in WKT (for example POINT Z (lon lat alt)).
FeatureCollection, Point, and Polygon Support
You can convert a FeatureCollection (one row per Feature), a single Feature, or a geometry such as Point or Polygon (one row). A FeatureCollection needs at least one feature to convert. For JSON without geographic data, use JSON to CSV.
Open the CSV in Excel, Sheets, or QGIS
Download with UTF-8 with BOM if people will double-click the file in Excel on Windows. Google Sheets: File → Import usually accepts plain UTF-8 with a header row.
Excel / Google Sheets
Filter and join on property columns as a normal table. Point maps often need only longitude and latitude. Long WKT cells are awkward in spreadsheets—keep WKT for GIS or databases when shapes matter.
QGIS points
Layer → Add Layer → Add Delimited Text Layer. File format CSV, geometry = Point coordinates, X field = longitude, Y field = latitude. Geometry CRS: EPSG:4326 for typical RFC 7946 GeoJSON.
QGIS lines & polygons
Same dialog: geometry definition = Well Known Text (WKT), geometry field = wkt. Leave lon/lat unused. Confirm the WKT looks like POLYGON ((…)) or LINESTRING (…) in the CSV preview before adding the layer.
Delimiter & formula-like text
Comma fits most tools; use semicolon if your Excel locale treats comma as a decimal. Enable Reduce formula risks only when property values may start with =, +, -, or @—it prefixes an apostrophe and can change the stored text.
GeoJSON vs CSV: What's the Difference?
GeoJSON keeps features and nested geometries in one spatial document (RFC 7946). CSV is a flat table: attributes become columns; shapes only survive as text (WKT, geometry JSON) or as Point lon/lat. Convert when you need Excel filters, simple point layers, or a table for analysis. Keep the original .geojson if your mapping tool or spatial database requires GeoJSON.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert GeoJSON to CSV?
Paste GeoJSON or upload a .geojson / .json file. Choose coordinates, geometry type, and WKT options, set delimiter and encoding, then convert. Each Feature becomes one row. Preview the table, copy the CSV, or download a .csv file.
Can I convert a GeoJSON file to CSV online for free?
Yes. No account is required. Conversion runs in this browser tab, so the file is not uploaded to xlsxtocsv.net for processing.
How do I extract latitude and longitude from GeoJSON?
Enable Include coordinates. For Point features, coordinates[0] becomes longitude and coordinates[1] becomes latitude (RFC 7946 order). Lines and polygons leave those columns empty; use the WKT column for the full shape.
Can GeoJSON polygons be converted to CSV?
Yes. Each polygon (or line, multi-part shape) is one row. Turn on Include WKT geometry for a string such as POLYGON ((…)). Use WKT to save shapes in a CSV column that GIS tools can read, or include geometry JSON to keep the GeoJSON geometry as text.
Are GeoJSON properties preserved in CSV?
Yes. Properties become columns. Nested objects flatten to paths such as address.city when flattening is on; arrays stay as JSON text. Each property gets a column. Missing values are left blank. Features with null geometry or null properties still get a row.
Can I use the converted CSV in QGIS or Excel?
Yes. In Excel or Sheets, open or import the UTF-8 CSV (BOM helps Windows Excel double-click). In QGIS, Layer → Add Layer → Add Delimited Text Layer: for points set X=longitude and Y=latitude; for polygons or lines set geometry definition to Well Known Text (WKT) and pick the wkt column. CRS is typically EPSG:4326 for RFC 7946 GeoJSON.
